Oral practice — in pairs
Have learners interview each other using the present perfect and simple past tense and the suggested questions. Point out that they should not tell how much money they made.

If desired, set this interview up as a role-play with a mortgage lender. In this case, asking about salary would be appropriate. Another question for the roleplay might be, “How long have you lived at your current address?”

Unit 1 : Lesson 2: Getting money to buy a home

Oral practice—in pairs printer

Interview a classmate and complete the job history form. The questions below should help you. Do not ask your classmate about salary. In the United States it is not polite
to casually ask others how much money they make. Banks, businesses, and employers may ask about your salary for business reasons.

1. What is your job title?

2. Where do you work?

3. When did you begin work at this job?

4. What work did you do before?

5. Where did you work before?

6. How long did you work at that position?
