Vocabulary
Be sure that learners understand the difference between owe, borrow, and lend and can pronounce the words. Then ask them to fill in the blanks with the appropriate words. Ask learners to tell when they have owed or borrowed money.

Have learners role-play borrowing or lending money or a household item, such as a ladder. Discuss polite question forms to use when asking to borrow something.

Grammar review
The Grammar review section is meant to be a review of material that has already been taught. Point out that the present perfect tense expresses a situation that began in the past and continues to the present. Also explain that the simple past tense indicates that an activity began and ended in the past or happened at a particular time in the past. Review the difference between simple past and present perfect tense by asking learners about where they have lived. Then have learners fill in the blanks with the correct verb forms.
