There are two types of bank cards

1. Credit cards and secured credit cards let you “pay later.” They are a type of loan that you pay back later.

2. Debit cards and ATM cards let you “pay now.” The money is taken from your bank account right away.

Lost cards

If your card is lost or stolen report it to your bank or card company right away. Also, file a report with the police department.

Credit Card companies will usually make you pay no more than $50 of charges that you did not make when a card is stolen.

Debit Card companies will usually make you pay no more than $50 of charges made if you report the stolen card in 2 days.  If you report it later, you could lose the money taken out of your account.
