December 5, 2004: Sediment Trap Mooring
The scientific team has successfully recovered the sediment trap mooring! It was deployed (released) into the ocean one year ago.
The weather is rough now, but we will send more journal articles later.
Chris Moser prepares to retrieve the sediment trap mooring.
Marian Tyson is on deck to supervise the recovery operation.
When the mooring is released from its anchor at a signal from the scientific team, the floats bring the mooring to the sea surface. The floats mark the location of the sediment trap mooring.
The floats come aboard.
The winch operator brings aboard the first sediment trap.
The second sediment trap mooring comes aboard.
This sediment is in one bottle on the sediment trap.
