Prompt a discussion about the importance of knowing your neighbors. Ask the class if they know their
neighbors. Follow this discussion by pointing out that neighbors can give you important information about your community. Have learners interview each other about the location of services in the neighborhoods where they live. For ideas refer students to the list
on this page. Demonstrate question formation by having them read the sample expressions here.

As learners interview one another, they should record the information they learn on this form. Locations and names of stores and facilities may be recorded. Have pairs ask about any additional information, such as possible parking regulations.

It is important to meet your new neighbors as soon as possible. They can give you information about your neighborhood and your community.

Find a partner. Pretend that you have just moved into your partner’s neighborhood. Ask for information about the topics on the following page. You can use expressions like, “Do you know where ___?” “Can you tell me about ___?” “Where do you ___?” “When does ___?” “Are there any ___?” Record the information. When you have finished, have your partner interview you about your neighborhood.
