How to Buy a Home: Lessons for Adult Learners

About this site

This is an interactive Web site based on the paper versions of Fannie Mae Foundation’s How to Buy a Home in the United States and How to Buy Your Own Home. It includes the "Expanding Your Resources: Tools for Teachers" section of The Money Management and Home-Buying Readiness Sourcebook providing additional resources for the topics covered.

Having access to adult financial educational material is essential. This material on this site was developed for Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) including adult basic literacy, family literacy, adult native language literacy, adult secondary English, and high school equivalency preparation.

The site is designed to allow program coordinators, administrators, and instructors to adopt the material into their curriculum. Adult learners will be able use this site to learn at their own pace at the times they learn best.

How to Buy a Home in the United States was developed for speakers of English as their second language. How to Buy Your Own Home was designed for adults with moderate literacy skills in an adult basic education or basic literacy program. Both the student workbooks and teachers guides are fully reproduced on this site.
