The Institute for Healthcare Advancement announces its Fifth Annual Health Literacy Conference, “Beyond the Written Word: Alternative Solutions to Low Health Literacy.” This conference will explore options beyond the written word, using advanced technology such as the Web, multimedia, audio, graphics (cartoons, pictograms), or any other alternative means for communicating health information and increasing health literacy, as well as other traditions, including storytelling and the spoken word. If good communication and health literacy are a priority for you, and if you use or have considered using any of these approaches, this conference is a must. We also have sessions on writing for low literacy, effective translations, and much more.
