Government Funds
Organizations can sometimes get temporary government funding for
workplace basic skills programs. The money is limited and the process for
applying is often complicated and competitive. Some things to keep in
mind when considering applying for government funding:
- The applicant's goals match the funder's stated purpose.
- There is a specific plan for a workplace basic skills program, e.g.
date, length of program, etc.
- Other sources of funds need to be available to maintain the program.
Federal Funding is awarded by the U.S. Department of Education to individual states.
Some of these funds are available to assist businesses
in setting up workplace basic skills programs. In Washington State,
these funds are administered by the Office of Adult Literacy.
