Key to Community Voter Involvement Project
The purpose of this project is to increase civic participation among adult learners who may feel excluded from the voting process or civic involvement because of lack of education or their cultural background.
The Key to Community Voter Invovlement Project is sponsored by the California State Library and is a partnership of the Santa Clara County Library Reading Program, Center for Civic Literacy, and the Bay Area New Readers Council.
The materials, which were developed with the assistance of adult learners from the Bay Area, address many of the barriers to civic participation: fear of the process, lack of clear information in a readable and understandable format, and limited understanding of how public issues affect them personally.
