On May 3, 1997, Merced Regional Resource Center will host our first Adult Learners Conference. I will be sending more information on how you and your learners can be involved.
Keep in mind that the Resource Center will still be offering workshops for instructors this year. We had a great response for the Citizenship Workshop last week and will probably be repeating it in the Spring if there is sufficient interest.
We really need your input to determine which workshops we should offer in the Spring. Please take a moment to fill out the Workshop Interest Form.
It's not an ordinary classroom! When you walk into Merced Adult School's Learning Lab, you will not only see students buried in books as you do in any classroom, you will also see groups of students meeting and making decisions about how they want to get involved in their school and community.
This holiday season members of the Leadership Group of Merced Adult School are sponsoring a Canned Food Drive for the needy. The day and night English As a Second Language, Adult Basic Education, General Educational Development, and high school diploma classes in Merced and at Castle participated in this event. Many of these students have very little themselves, yet they are giving to those who have less. So far approximately 1,500 canned foods and non-perishable food items have been collected. These items will be given to the Rescue Mission, Simon Sanchez Ministries, and Merced Re-entry Program.
Giving is good for the soul! Happy Holidays!
