Characteristics Things to do Two year olds are self-centered. They slowly start to learn about the feelings of other. They are starting to be interested in other children. Two year olds don’t really play “together.” They play next to each other. Two year olds still can’t share without help. Talk about what toys your child is OK sharing before friends come over. Both boys and girls like to play “make believe.” They like to play house. This kind of play helps them learn to be social. Old clothes are good for dress-up time. Small pots and pans are good to play kitchen. Furniture can be made for dolls and stuffed animals out of boxes.
