Characteristics Things to do Four year olds want to know “Why?” They want to know what is real and what is not. They want to know how things work. Four year olds need to see and touch things to understand them Simple science activities are good for this age. Have your child sprinkle a little baking soda into a shallow dish. Add some vinegar with an eye dropper. What happens? (The bubbles are carbon dioxide gas being released.)      Ask your librarian for easy-to- read books with science experiments.
