OREGON
RECREATION AND WEATHER RESOURCES
By
Diane Ferris, Portland Community College
Skillbuilding:
- Using
Internet-based resources
- Reading maps,
charts, tables, and graphs
- Communication
- Interpreting
data
- Using reference
materials
- Problem-solving
Objectives:
Given four different scenarios involving travel and
recreation in Oregon, the learner will:
- read,
construct, and interpret maps, charts, tables,
and graphs;
- analyze
data;
- read and
summarize information;
- apply
information to new situations.
Description of
Activity:
Web sites for
Internet references are provided to expedite the
information search. The learner will analyze the
gathered information, formulate a decision, and
communicate a description of the thought process
used to arrive at the decision. The results of this
research will vary according to the travel
scenarios and the time of year. This is designed to
be an independent or small group activity. Learners
may need to be reminded to pay careful attention to
details and take the time to carefully examine the
web sites to see what other information can be
found there.
