Given information
about weather related disasters, the learner will
be able to:
- Read article
and learn vocabulary about the weather
disaster;
- Complete a
worksheet about the weather
disaster.
Description of
Activity:
This lesson was
designed with the ABE student in mind. I searched
for sites that were not so dense and difficult as
some others. Also, there are exciting graphics in
some of them.
Students should
read the introductory page "Weather Disasters!"
They could use the questions there to guide them in
looking through some of the sites. Finally, they
should select a disaster they are interested in,
and complete the weather worksheet.
I would encourage
students to look through all the pages in any
article. As mentioned on the disaster worksheet,
student should be helped to see that there is often
a story map and a glossary available to help
them.
