Programs & Activities
Western/Pacific LINCS
provides free email, listservs, web hosting and development, and
technical training to literacy programs throughout the western
United States and the Pacific Islands. Over 140 countries and
all 50 states visit the site for education resources.
Western/Pacific LINCS
provides server-based resources to deliver resources including
streaming video and audio. For programs with slow or non-existent
Internet connections, we provide CDs containing LINCS resources
and training modules to be distributed at trainings or upon request.
Material selected for CDs that can meet the needs of geographically
and multicultural diverse populations.
Western/Pacific LINCS
provides assistance in website construction, listserv maintenance,
LINCS database use, email setup, browser use, resource referral,
the integration of technology into teaching and learning, web
hosting and material archiving including video and audio files,
software assistance including Photoshop, Flash, HTML, Word, Excel,
Filemaker, and Adobe Acrobat, computer hardware set-up and use,
database development, and video and audio production for online
use.
We host over 100 websites
for state partners and local programs. Each houses program information,
full document training and curriculum materials, and professional
development materials. Programs are able to produce online newsletters
such as Nevadas Nevada
Connections and Teacher Tips; Hawaii
EFF Update Spring 2003; and Hawaii
Family Literacy Consortium Family Literacy News.
We host over 125 listservs
(discussion groups) with over 4550 subscribers that are setup
for any educational program or group upon request. Each is a closed
listserv meaning subscribers can only be subscribed by the list
moderator who passes on only valid email addresses for inclusion
to WPL staff.
