FUNDING

ABE is an educational bargain, with the cost per student from all sources (federal, state, and local match) averaging less than $300 per person. Yet the level of service is commendable as evidenced by four programs receiving national recognition during the last 10 years.

Funds for ABE are primarily federal with about 27% of the State-administered funding coming from the state. Local programs contribute the 25% required match minimum. The level of local support varies from inkind contributions of facility use and fiscal management to actual sizable cash support. ABE funding is reliant on a formula which attempts to balance need and performance.
