About This Book

This teacher’s guide and its companion student book were developed by the Fannie Mae Foundation in collaboration with the Center for Applied Linguistics, an educational institution in Washington, DC, with more than 35 years of experience preparing curricula and instructional materials for English as a Second Language (ESL) learners.

The Fannie Mae Foundation is a nonprofit organization formed and funded by Fannie Mae, a private company chartered by Congress to provide funds for home mortgages in communities across America. Among other actitivities, the Foundation provides information useful to those who want to buy a home in America. This guide is part of the Foundation’s New Americans Initiative, which offers a number of home buyer publications helpful to new immigrants.

The Web Edition of the teacher’s guide and the student book was designed by Literacyworks, a nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the creation and advancement of effective materials for educators and learners in the fields of adult and family literacy.
