Articles — A, an, and the

A and an are indefinite articles. They refer to objects that have not been specifically identified or previously mentioned.

Example: Mr. and Mrs. Martin bought a house last year.

The is a definite article. It refers to a particular object.

Example: The house at 12 Elm Street sold for $84,000.

Use “a,” “an,” or “the” to write sentences about the tax advantages that homeowners get from the government.
