Such a Lovely Place...Lassen
Park
By Tatiana Klimova
My husband and I are about seven months in California.
It's our first time in USA. Although we are not so long
time here we had time to visit some wonderful places in
California. Almost every weekend we try to go some
interesting places. There are a lot of missions, parks,
national forests, and other points of interest.
So, we were in San Juan Bautista Mission, Muir Woods
National Monument, Lassen Volcanic National Park,
Yosemite National Park, Carmel, Monterey, Half Moon Bay
and more places.
The most colorful expressions I felt in Lassen Park.
We were there two times.
The first time we stayed at the camp near Manzanita
Lake in July 1997. This lake is so gorgeous! We walked
around the lake in the evening and then in the morning
and saw some ducks and their babies. Next day we went
through the park to Lassen Peak. There was snow in many
places near the road. We climbed to Lassen Peak and there
was a snowfield just before the top. If you ever climbed
any mountain, you know that the most beautiful pictures
you can see only on the top of the mountain. I cannot
find the words to describe the beauty that we saw there!
We saw some lakes, small and large, which lay on the
plateau below us, tops of other mountains, forests of
pine and fir.
On the second time we stayed at the camp on the coast
of Juniper Lake. That time we took an inflatable boat
with us and boated through the days and hiked near the
lake, climbed to Crystal Lake which is situated near
Juniper Lake. We made some evening fire. That time Lassen
Park presented the unforgettable night to us! I have
never seen so many stars in the sky! They were so near to
us! We took our boat and boated into the middle of the
lake where we saw all the sky that was overcrowded with
stars. We cannot say anything, we only looked on the sky
and tried to imagine if somebody lived there or not? Next
morning we went walking and boating again and swimming.
We had some guests: ducks, deer and some small scampering
animals (unfortunately, I don't know what to call them).
Of course, we did not see many interesting things in
Lassen Park, such as Boiling Springs Lake, Devils
Kitchen, Terminal Geyser and Bumpass Hell; but we are
hoping to go there again and again.
I like the nature of our Planet and hope that soon all
people in the world will understand how important to take
care of our nature. There is only one place where we can
really have a rest and relax this is the PLACE WHERE WE
ARE ALL FROM -- FROM THE NATURE.
