group tutoring and computer lab program at 3 branch libraries for middle
school students.
- Expansion of the
existing LACER (Los Angeles Center for Educational Research) program
and curriculum, which includes word games and daily reading and writing
activities.
- After school research
projects center around themes which culminate in a field trip related
to the research topic.
- Parent Literacy
Workshops
- encourage parent
involvement in the schools and familiarize parents with local resources
and support services.

The after-school activities
at the library are fun and keep the kids coming back for more. The afternoon
may include a play reading or writing a scary story. The staffers are
young and hip and the middle schoolers relate well to them.
