budding scientist makes a presentation in front of her familys "How
Many?" display board.
Components:
- Family classes
incorporate the "Mother Goose Asks Why" curriculum developed
by the Vermont Center for the Book.
- Once a week parents
classes.
- Once a week, children
meet with a reading partner.
- Oak View Branch
Library is next door to supplement all activities.
- Children write
and illustrate their own childrens book.
- Culminating activity
of the 10 week session is a family party to share completed projects
with teachers, volunteers, and community VIPs.
 
"Mother Goose
Asks Why" combines childrens books with science concepts. The
activities encourage children to explore, question, experiment and, best
of all, have fun with their parents. The recommended childrens books
are fun and engaging and help build new vocabulary for English language
learners.
