Kinkle Plea Kip Kinkel Pleads Guilty In Oregon Shootings

I. Kip Kinkel pleaded guilty to the shootings of his parents and other students.
A. Kip spoke with his sister and his aunt before pleading guilty.

B. He had planned to use the insanity defense.

C. If the insanity defense failed, Kip would never have had a chance at parole.

II. There will not be a jury trial for Kip Kinkel

A. Because he has said he is guilty, a jury does not need to find out if he is guilty.

B. Kip will be sentenced in early November.

C. There is no death penalty in Oregon for juveniles.

D. Kip could be out of jail in 32 years

E. Most people are happy there will not be a trial.

III. Relatives and survivors of the shootings went to hear him plead guilty

A. Many of them want Kip in jail for the rest of his life

B. Some people feel sorry for Kip.
