II. James Chatters, an anthropologist, studies the bones.

a. He sees political racism as part of the ownership struggle.

b. Chatters sends a pelvic bone to a lab for carbon dating.

c. Lab says the bone is over 9,000 years old.

d. He is excited because it is a complete skeleton.

e. A complete cast of the bones is made.

III. A battle begins for the bones.

a. Native Americans claim the bones are an ancestor.

b. Chatters and others claim the skull resembles Europeans.

c. A comparison is made to Patrick Stewart, a Star Trek star.

d. Asatru, a pagan Viking faith, also wants the bones.

IV. The power struggle in progress.

a. Native Americans want to bury the Kennewick Man.

b. Asatrus feel the bones have a message for them to understand.

c. Scientists want to learn from the bones' DNA and scars.

d. Chatters says the bones are a surprising treasure.
