The Future Of Communications

I. The year 2000 will be a big year for communications,

A. There will be cell phones small enough to fit in your pocket.

B. There will be videophones.

C. There will be tiny hand size computers.

D. Email will be everywhere without wires.

II. In the next 20 years technologists predict there will be many new communication devices.

A. In the next year or two, automatic language translators will be out.

B. In the next five years, there may be giant screens like Star Trek, cell phones that sense their location, and computers will be wireless.

C. In the next 20 years, there may be computers that operate using people's brain waves.

III. Wireless technology will help some people a great deal.

A. Rural areas and countries that have little cable and telephone service will be able to use the Internet.

B. They can start right away and not wait for phone and cable lines to come.

IV. More Internet may change how people use reading and writing.

A. Email and e-books may cause people to do more reading and writing.

B. Using reading and writing more will make people better readers and writers.

V. There are challenges in the future of communications.

A. People will have more and more information,

B. Will all this information and communication help to make a better worls?

C. It is very difficult to predict the future, we only know that things can change very quickly.
