I. Two decades ago, condors were almost extinct

A. There were less than 30 birds left in the wild
B. Condors were considered endangered
C. The condor is the largest bird in North America
D. Condors are carrion feeders – they only eat animals that are already dead

II. People decided to try and save the condor

A. All wild condors were captured
B. People tried to help the condors hatch more eggs
C. Puppets that looked like condors were used to raise chicks
D. Condor numbers increased

III. Condors raised in captivity were released into the wild

A. The condors were attracted to humans
B. Condors perched on housed and even went inside houses
C. Condors built nests on power lines and were electrocuted
D. Condors were poisoned by anti-freeze
E. Condors ate meat poisoned from lead bullets

IV. The plan to save condors may need to be changed

A. Hunters should use alternative ammunition
B. Condors should not be raised by puppets
C. A committee will decide what should be done to save the condors
