Become
a volunteer
Tutor! Individuals just like you are empowering individuals to meet their reading and writing goals. Volunteer tutors receive ongoing training and support from the literacy programs and meet regularly with their learning partner. Volunteer tutors are always needed. Contact your local program to find out about upcoming training dates. Just call 1-888-SOS-READ (1-888-767-7323), or contact one of the BALIT member programs. Visit our events page to learn about local events and tutor training dates.
If tutoring is too
much of a time commitment, share your energy and skills in other ways.
Programs also need office and computer lab support, help with special
events, publicity and fundraising.
Spread
the word
Help us keep literacy in the public eye. Talk to policymakers, friends
and colleagues about the importance of literacy and the need to support
our learners, tutors and programs.
Celebrate
lifelong learning
We are all learners, and we should celebrate those who take the courageous
steps of pursuing their dreams.
