"Welcome to
the America Reads Challenge in Region IX home page. The
purpose of this website is make available to interested individuals and
organizations in Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada and the Pacific Islands
information that will help them meet the America Reads Challenge
at the state and local level. The America Reads Challenge calls
on all Americans to help ensure that every American child can read well
and independently by the end of the 3rd grade.
Thanks to
the California Reads Roundtable, a partnership of organizations interested
in reading and literacy in California, anyone in Region IX can now access
information and resources for parents, kids, teachers, volunteers and
others interested in participating in and organizing local programs in
support of the America Reads Challenge (click on entries in the left menu
bar). You can also click on California and Hawaii for additional information
about state and local activities. We plan to add more states and islands
and information as this website develops.
